Well? I read about nobody noticing a difference... Hummm... does anybody actually keep track of what they put in and what they get out?
87 average 16.6 (10% ethanol)
89 average 17.8 (?% ethanol)
91 average 18.2 (mostly 0% ethanol)
Not exact science or environmentally controlled results and differences include 2 values (octane & ethanol) that vary. I don't notice drivability difference between 89 & 91 but 87 feels "not quite right" to me.
My conclusion, until I have or see real data that proves otherwise, is that I'll run the recommended 91 octane and with 0% ethanol as a first choice even if I have to go a couple miles out of my way to get it.
I don't know if 87 octane would actually "hurt" anything, but numbers tell me it's better at 89 or above.
